Diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Don’t wait for the pain to become unbearable. Seek medical assistance when you first notice persistent symptoms. Dr. Siddiqi will then conduct a comprehensive evaluation of your condition before recommending a course of treatment. Included in this examination will be an assessment of sensation, strength and reflexes in your hand.
If physical therapy and/or medication doesn’t provide satisfactory relief, certain diagnostic testing may be needed to determine if surgery is a viable option. The tests may include X-ray and Electromyogram/Nerve Conduction Studies (EMG/NCS).
X-ray – Shows the wrist bones and determines if any abnormalities are present that would lead to carpal tunnel syndrome.
Electromyogram/Nerve Conduction Studies (EMG/NCS) – Show how the nerves and muscles are working together by measuring electrical impulses along nerve roots, peripheral nerves such as the median nerve, and muscle tissue.
